'Art of VR' to Open at Sotheby's New York

The Advanced Imaging Society’s Virtual Reality Society aims to raise public awareness of virtual reality through "The Art of VR," a two-day festival taking place June 22-23 at Sotheby’s New York. The event will feature speakers, including filmmakers Doug Liman and Maria Bello, as well as virtual reality experiences for applications such as museums, dance, theater, film and travel.

Featured VR projects will include Sun Ladies, the story of the all-female militia fighting ISIS produced by Maria Bello and Kate Brooks; Liman-directed episodic series Invisible; the pilot episode of animated Raising a Rukus, produced by VRC and Oscar winner Robert Stromberg; and VR film Le Musk by two-time Oscar- and Grammy-winning musical artist A.R. Rahman. The latter, co-produced by Intel in conjunction with motion seat-maker Positron, combines sound, haptics, motion and smell.

Sotheby’s and Loot Interactive will curate a separate Space VR Gallery, a space-themed exhibit including the debut of The Apollo 11 VR Museum as well as informational short Buzz Aldrin: Cycling Pathways, and Fox and Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant In Utero and The Martian VR Experience.

During the festival, Loot Interactive and Suzanne Lloyd will unveil a preview of the Harold Lloyd Museum Experience in VR featuring a collection of the Hollywood legend’s 3D photography set in an explorable multi-floor modern museum. Article by Hollywoodreporter.com

Congratulations Graduates

As Heartland Community High School’s class of 2017 graduates Sunday in Henderson, Nebraska, they’ll be joined by two special guests, each keeping a promise eight years in the making.

The guests are Brian Selznick, award-winning author/illustrator of “Wonderstruck” and “The Invention of Hugo Cabret,” and Suzanne Lloyd, the granddaughter of Nebraska-born silent film star Harold Lloyd.

One that involves a silent film festival and a whole lot of letters to Johnny Depp. Read More
